Save Money & Energy
Save Money & Energy

Saving energy and money go hand-in-hand. We can all contribute to reducing Austin’s energy demand by making simple lifestyle changes and energy-efficient home improvements. When demand decreases, we all save. Austin Energy is committed to helping our customers achieve the greatest savings possible.

Pool Pumps

Keep your pool clean and save money.

Austin Energy offers residential customers a rebate to install qualified variable-speed pool pumps and motor systems.

Installing a variable-speed pool pump can help you save energy and keep your swimming pool clean. As part of Austin Energy’s Appliance Efficiency Program (AEP), you may qualify for a rebate to install approved variable-speed pool pumps that can save you money and energy.

Most pool pumps run at one speed. Variable-speed pumps run at multiple speeds. They work at the minimum speed necessary to effectively clean your pool. If you are installing a new pool, consider asking for a variable-speed pool pump.

These pool pumps can help you save about $300 a year in electricity. You can expect:

  • Energy savings of 60% or more
  • Ten years of reliable operation
  • Quieter and more efficient cleaning
  • Reduced maintenance
  • Return on investment within two to three years
  • A $300 rebate from Austin Energy

Registered Contractor Required for Rebate

Austin Energy requires that you use a City of Austin-registered contractor to qualify for this rebate. Your Registered Contractor can help you choose the right equipment for your home. Registered Contractors meet Austin Energy requirements for licensure, insurance, workmanship, and equipment.

We also offer rebates for the following AEP incentives that will improve energy efficiency in your home:

If your home is 10 years or older, consider whole home energy efficiency improvements through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®. Our Registered Contractors will perform an energy analysis to determine potential energy-saving improvements to your home.
