Save Money & Energy
Save Money & Energy

Saving energy and money go hand-in-hand. We can all contribute to reducing Austin’s energy demand by making simple lifestyle changes and energy-efficient home improvements. When demand decreases, we all save. Austin Energy is committed to helping our customers achieve the greatest savings possible.

Air Conditioning

Save money and keep your home comfortable and cool.

Install a new energy-efficient air conditioning system and earn a rebate.

Austin Energy wants to help you maximize your investment in a new air conditioner.
Explore our Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program when you need to upgrade your air conditioner, especially to correct:

  • Underperforming air conditioning systems
  • Inefficient ductwork
  • Inadequate attic insulation levels
  • Air leaks

This whole-home approach to energy upgrades delivers savings, comfort, and healthier indoor air quality. Plus, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR customers can enjoy an average of $1,800 in rebates and 3.99% interest loans combined with an average savings of 20% off summer energy bills.

If you are not quite ready for this comprehensive approach to energy efficiency, Austin Energy provides rebates averaging about $450 to just install qualified energy-efficient air conditioning equipment. Replacing your old air conditioner with a new energy-efficient unit can save you energy and money when a registered contractor installs the correct size for your home.

If your air conditioning system is at least 10 years old, new energy-efficient air conditioning equipment can create a noticeably more comfortable environment for your home.

When you are ready to make the rest of the energy upgrades to optimize the new AC to its peak performance and extend the life of the unit, remember to turn to Home Performance with ENERGY STAR for additional rebates.

Registered Contractor Required for Rebate

Austin Energy requires that you use a City of Austin-registered contractor to qualify for this rebate. Your Registered Contractor can help you choose the right equipment for your home. Registered Contractors meet Austin Energy requirements for licensure, insurance, workmanship, and equipment.

If you decide to choose Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, our registered Home Performance contractors can perform an energy analysis to determine appropriate energy efficiency improvements for your home.
