Power Partner℠ Thermostats

Become a Power Partner to save energy and money.

Enjoy an $85 bill credit for each smart thermostat you enroll in the Power Partner program. Plus, earn a $25 rebate from Austin Energy for buying and installing a new smart thermostat.

Enjoy two ways to save with an eligible smart thermostat.

Already Own a Smart Thermostat?

Become a Power Partner and earn an $85 bill credit for each eligible thermostat you enroll in the Power Partner program, where Austin Energy adjusts your thermostat on a handful of high energy use days.

As a Power Partner, you can:

  • Save money on your energy bills by using less energy
  • Lower the cost of electricity in our community
  • Enhance power grid reliability during times of high energy use
  • Reduce your carbon footprint

Power Partner events occur on a small number of extremely hot summer days. On these days, Austin Energy will briefly adjust your thermostat settings by a few degrees only as needed to help manage high energy use throughout the community, known as peak energy demand.

As a Power Partner, your participation in these events can increase your energy savings without significantly impacting comfort.

Power Partner events will:

  • Occur only between 3:00-6:00 p.m. during the summer (June 1 – Sept. 30), excluding rare emergencies.
  • Adjust your thermostat upward 2 to 4 degrees, no higher than 85 degrees.
  • Occur on weekdays only (no weekends or holidays).
  • Occur no more than three times per week and no more than 25 times during the summer period.
  • Adjust your thermostat downward 2 to 4 degrees roughly 30 minutes before the event to provide temporary comfort once the event begins.

You can opt out of Power Partner events at any time by simply adjusting your thermostat or thermostat app. Customers who wish to permanently discontinue their participation in Power Partner events may do so by submitting a Power Partner Opt Out request.

Note: We do not recommend participating in this offering if someone in your home or office is experiencing serious health problems.
