Save Money & Energy

Saving energy and money go hand-in-hand. We can all contribute to reducing Austin’s energy demand by making simple lifestyle changes and energy-efficient home improvements. When demand decreases, we all save. Austin Energy is committed to helping our customers achieve the greatest savings possible.

Power Partner℠ Thermostats

Earn a $25 rebate for each Austin Energy-approved, Wi-Fi-connected thermostat installed within your multifamily community and delight your residents with the convenience and functionality of this cutting-edge, energy-saving amenity.

Power Partner Thermostats and Energy Efficiency

Through our Power Partner Thermostat offering, Austin Energy will pay property owners or managers a $25 rebate for each qualifying thermostat you install in your multifamily community.

Benefits to Property Owners and Managers

  • The state-of-the-art, two-way Wi-Fi thermostats are market tested, and some models do not require batteries, meaning less maintenance for you.
  • As a multifamily manager, some Wi-Fi enabled thermostats allow you to monitor and control the temperature of multiple vacant units/locations from the thermostat manufacturer’s online portal. You can easily set the thermostat to away/off settings and then reset the thermostat remotely for walk-throughs with potential residents.
  • Offering the latest Wi-Fi thermostat technology makes your community more attractive to the growing number of eco-friendly, tech-savvy potential residents.

Benefits to Tenants

  • Offering Wi-Fi enabled thermostats allows your residents to remotely access and control their thermostats and heating/cooling systems anytime, anywhere using their smart devices and computers.
  • These thermostats optimize residents’ energy use and increase energy efficiency within their units.
  • Additionally, Austin Energy offers an $85 incentive to your residents if they enroll in the Power Partner Thermostat Program’s smart energy savings events.

Tenant Incentive for Voluntary Smart Energy Savings Participation

Austin Energy also offers an $85 incentive to your residents if they enroll in the Power Partner Thermostat smart energy savings events.

Voluntary smart energy savings events occur during the summer months when demand for electricity is high. On these days, your residents agree to let Austin Energy briefly adjust their thermostat settings by a few degrees only as needed during peak energy demand. These minor changes help prevent outages and reduce energy use without significantly impacting comfort.

Smart energy savings events occur no more than 25 summer days between June and September, typically between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Austin Energy does not perform smart energy savings events on weekends or holidays.

Participating residents can manually opt out of smart energy savings events at any time by adjusting their unit’s thermostat or through the thermostat manufacturer’s online portal.

We do not recommend that any of your residents experiencing serious health problems participate in smart energy savings events.

Residents are not required to sign up for the Power Partner Thermostat Program smart energy savings events for you to receive your property’s $25 thermostat rebate.
