Save Money & Energy
Save Money & Energy

Saving energy and money go hand-in-hand. We can all contribute to reducing Austin’s energy demand by making simple lifestyle changes and energy-efficient home improvements. When demand decreases, we all save. Austin Energy is committed to helping our customers achieve the greatest savings possible.

Air Conditioning

Save money and keep your home comfortable and cool.

Install a new energy-efficient air conditioning system and earn a rebate.

Austin Energy wants you to save money and energy by helping you choose an efficient air conditioning system for your home. If you work with a participating contractor to replace your air conditioner with a qualifying air conditioner or heat pump, you can receive rebates averaging $350. Replacing your old air conditioner with a new energy-efficient unit can save you energy and money when a participating contractor installs correctly sized equipment for your home.

Participating Contractor Required for Rebate

Austin Energy requires that you use a participating contractor to install the equipment to qualify for this rebate. Your participating contractor can help you choose the right equipment for your home.

Additional Rebates Available by Upgrading to Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®

Maximize your investment in a new air conditioner when you participate in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR. Whole-home energy improvements can optimize your air conditioning system, extend its life, and improve your home’s energy efficiency. Instead of only replacing the air conditioning unit, this whole-home approach also provides practical improvements for cleaner indoor air and increased comfort. Plus, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR customers can enjoy an average savings of 20% off summer energy bills. Explore Whole-Home Energy Improvements to:

  • Replace inefficient, incorrectly sized air conditioning equipment
  • Correct poorly designed, uninsulated, leaky air ducts
  • Seal air leaks, weatherstrip doors, add attic insulation and solar shading

If you choose to proceed with air conditioner-only rebates, you can still qualify for other rebates through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. If you participate within six months after receiving your air conditioner rebate, you could be eligible for an additional $200 rebate.

Limited Time Offer!

Through April 15, 2021, enjoy an additional $600 rebate for Rebate-only projects. Austin Energy rebates for this program typically average $1,800, but with our Limited Time Offer you may enjoy as much as $2,400 in rebates!

For qualifying Rebate & Loan projects, Austin Energy works with Velocity Credit Union to provide financing at 0% interest. Ask your Home Performance participating contractor about the seasonal discounts and the new seasonal 0% interest rate loan.
