Save Money & Energy
Save Money & Energy

Saving energy and money go hand-in-hand. We can all contribute to reducing Austin’s energy demand by making simple lifestyle changes and energy-efficient home improvements. When demand decreases, we all save. Austin Energy is committed to helping our customers achieve the greatest savings possible.

Power Partner℠ Thermostats

Control your smart thermostat anywhere, anytime to save money and energy.

Seasonal Offer!
Between November 27, 2020 and January 31, 2021, you can earn the biggest rebate of the year, up to $155, when you install a smart thermostat and join the Power Partner program! Get $25 just for purchasing and installing a qualifying Wi-Fi thermostat. Then, get a $130* incentive (normally $85) for each eligible thermostat you enroll in our voluntary Power Partner program, which helps the whole community save energy and money.

There are two (2) ways to receive rebates for your eligible, Wi-Fi-enabled thermostats through our Power Partner Thermostat offerings.

a. Austin Energy will pay you a $25 rebate for each new eligible thermostat you purchase and install.

b. We’ll also give you a $130* incentive for each eligible thermostat when you enroll in our voluntary Power Partner Program.

Earn $25 When You Buy and Install an Approved Thermostat

Austin Energy will pay you $25 for each new eligible, Wi-Fi-enabled thermostat you purchase and install.

  • Make sure to save your receipt and apply within 90 days of purchasing your thermostat. Applications submitted beyond this time frame will not be approved.
  • Read the Eligibility tab for all requirements.
  • Click the How to Apply tab to get started with your application.

Earn $130* When You Enroll in the Power Partner Program

Austin Energy also offers a $130* incentive if you enroll in the Power Partner Program.

What Happens When You Enroll

Power Partner events occur on the hottest days of the year. On these days, Austin Energy will briefly adjust your thermostat settings by a few degrees only as needed during peak energy demand.

Your participation in Power Partner events can help increase your energy savings while helping to fulfill community-wide demand for electric service.

  • During a Power Partner event, program participants agree to let Austin Energy briefly adjust the temperature setting on their thermostats between 2 to 4 degrees when the demand for electricity is highest.
  • These minor changes help prevent outages and reduce energy use without significantly impacting comfort.
  • Power Partner events occur no more than 25 summer days between June and September, during the hours of 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., to ensure everyone is able to stay cool.
  • Austin Energy does not perform Power Partner events on weekends or holidays.

You can manually opt out at any time by simply adjusting your thermostat on the wall or through your thermostat’s app.

Note: We do not recommend participating in this offering if someone in your home or office is experiencing serious health problems.
